A post-fermented tea with a similar earthy, light and sweet taste as the Pu-erh tea but hard packed into 1 block & paper wrapped. Compressed Pu-erh takes a few minutes longer to brew than Pu-erh leaves.
Grown in the Yunnan Province of China and dating back to 25-220 AD, the Pu-erh Leaves were tightly packed into cakes or bricks to help preserve the tea and flavour for long journeys across Asia.
To get the most out of your Pu-erh Brick tea, carefully prize 2-4 gms of tea with a knife. You can also break off a small piece. Traditionally the tea is quickly rinsed in boiling water to refresh the leaves and the liquor is discarded. Brew the slightly unfurled leaves for up to 7 minutes (the longer brew will result in a more intense flavour).
The same leaves can be reinfused up to 3 times, resulting in a change in flavour profile and less caffeine.
