The Grey Story theme was inspired by English ceramic artists in the late 18th century. It's inspiration was drawn from the delicate hand-painted wares imported into Europe from China. This happened at a time when mass production techniques were being introduced in Stoke on Trent, the flourishing centre of the UK pottery industry, with the result that the "look" was popularised in all corners of the globe.
